SSSGC 2007 - LOCAL RULES FOR THE SUNNYVALE GOLF COURSE

OUT OF BOUNDS: RULE 27   All perimeter fences and additionally as below.

HOLE #1 - White stakes to the right from tee to pond. Left from maintenance yard to   back of green.

HOLE #2 - LEFT — To the left of the screens and to the left of the cart path.

            RIGHT - White stakes - beginning at the first white stake after the pond and      extending to the white stake at the right rear of the green. Screens are        obstructions.

HOLE #8 - RIGHT — White stakes — tee area Protective fence is an Obstruction

HOLE #12 - LEFT - White stakes. Tee area to green area.

HOLE #13 - Ball in tunnel is Out of Bounds.

HOLE #14 - LEFT — White stakes. Tee area to green area. Screen is obstruction.

HOLE #16 - RIGHT — White stakes — tee to end of trees.

            REAR OF GREEN — White stakes. Fence at rear of green is obstruction.

HOLE #17 - Stakes at right are NOT OB

HOLE #1 - LEFT - REAR OF GREEN - White stakes

WATER HAZARDS: RULE 26  Marked by Yellow stakes, Lateral marked by Red             stakes.  Look for color of stake where ball last crosses boundary to determine      if Lateral applies.

HOLE #1 - RIGHT

HOLE #2 - RIGHT

HOLE #3 - LEFT at Tee

HOLE #6 - LEFT

HOLE #7 - CROSSING - Regular       RIGHT - Lateral

HOLE #8 - LEFT Lateral

            RIGHT - Lateral Hazard. Additionally you may use drop areas. Determine the   drop area which is closest to entry point and no nearer the Hole; Penalty: 1 stroke.

            FRONTING GREEN: If ball crosses water and then enters water, drop point is            line from flag through last crossing.

            RIGHT POND AT GREEN - Lateral hazard Also see Drop area instruction     above.

HOLE #14 - RIGHT

HOLE #15 - FRONT of tee.  RIGHT of green.

HOLE #16 - LEFT - near #15 Tee. FRONT of green

HOLE #17 - RIGHT

HOLE #18 - LEFT - be alert to double stakes Yellow and Red.

OBSTRUCTIONS : RULE 24    

            IMMOVABLE:  all fences (excluding perimeter fences), refreshment stand,     restrooms, fountains, artificially surfaced cart paths and roads, electrical panels,             aircraft navigation lights, all irrigation components, including pump houses,             posts, poles and French drains (small areas mostly around the greens and   consisting of a series of small rocks or pebbles.  Free drop-one club length             from the nearest point of relief, no closer to the hole).  You are not entitled to line of sight to the hole relief, just stance and swing.  

            IMMOVABLE SPECIAL:  STAKED TREES AND BUSHES - You must           take relief from the stake according to Rule 24.

HOLE #16 - protective fence at the rear of green - in addition to provisions of Rule 24,             there are drop areas at far ends of fence.

            ABNORMAL GROUND : RULE 2

            EMBEDDED BALL:- Rule in effect “through the green” (Hazards not included).

GROUND UNDER REPAIR: - any area so designated by the committee.    (maintenance    crew)

EARTH CRACKS: - any ball coming to rest in or on an earth crack (which is wider    than the head of a tee) is subject to relief without penalty. (drop within one club       length; no closer to the hole).

YARDAGE MARKERS: Kirby yardage markers at 50, 100, 150, 200 yards relative            distance to center of green.

DEFINITIONS: Simplified, see Rules of Golf, Definitions

OBSTRUCTIONS, Rule 24: Anything artificial; e.g. Buildings, paved roads, lights,     bottles.

LOOSE IMPEDIMENT: Anything natural, not growing; e.g. rocks, twigs, leaves.

THRU THE GREEN: The whole area of the course, except tees, greens and hazards.

RUB OF THE GREEN: A ball deflected or stopped by any outside agency not part of           the player or fellow competitor or their equipment. Play the ball as it lies, no             penalty.

12-STROKE MAXIMUM ON ANY HOLE: This means that the SSSGC golfer in any        SSSGC tournament must pick up his ball after 11 strokes and put a score of 12 on           his card.  THIS IS A NEW RULE BEGINNING 2007.
